HOME

Sometimes home is not a place, but a feeling.

Home is a personal photographic project which considers the spaces where I feel most at home. I have always felt a strong sense of belonging in nature and over the past few years, I have come to the realisation that I truly feel comfortable and safe when surrounded by natural landscapes.

To demonstrate my comfort in the great outdoors, I began by exploring the act of undressing, an activity usually only performed in private spaces where you feel the least vulnerable. This encouraged me to contemplate other simple acts which are normally only performed at home, such as applying cosmetics in a mirror and getting ready for bed. What has emerged from my explorations is a series of self-portrait photographs that aim to reflect my contentment; these everyday, ordinary acts have been employed as a metaphor for my feeling of home.
